CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You have chosen to play the BASS GUITAR, a Very Fun and Important instrument to play in any Worship Band!
Playing the BASS will require you to think very hard and also to practice a lot!
Your fingers will definitely hurt but it is all worth it in the end when you play the BASS with your Worship Band!
SO LETS BEGIN!!!
LESSON ONE- Finding the Notes
You will be learning how to play Bass Notes.
Bass Notes are played by putting your Left Hand Fingers on the Neck of the Guitar and pressing down on the strings while your Right Hand plucks or pulls the strings.
Easy, right.
NOTE: You should look at PICTURES I am using like MIRRORS.
Pretend it's a mirror, that way you'll see them the right way.
FIRST you have to count the spaces.
The Bass has many spaces where your fingers go. Do you see the thin shiny metal stripes on the neck? Those are called FRETS. Your fingers press on the strings BETWEEN the frets, NOT on the frets.
Your fingers press in the SPACES not on the metal frets.
There are 6 Spaces we are going to use for now. Pretty easy. See the pic.

Now you have to know that there are 4 strings on the Bass Guitar.
How many strings are there on the guitar...?
4, that's right.
BUT... We are only going to use 2 for the first lesson..
We will use the Top (fattest) string and the one Under it.

Ok, now I will tell you about BASS NOTES.
Bass players play NOTES- that means you have to learn what those NOTES are.
Look at the picture Below and MEMORIZE where each NOTE is.
For example, If your Finger is pressing the #4String on the #1SPACE you are playing the Note F. If your Finger is pressing the #4String on the #3SPACE you are playing Note G.
If your Finger is pressing the #3String on the #1SPACE you are playing the Note Bb (B flat) and if your Finger is pressing the #3STRING on #3SPACE you are playing Note C.
by the way..
# is pronounced 'sharp'
b is pronounced 'flat'
Open means you DONT touch the string. So if you play the 4String without touching it you are playing the NOTE E. If you play the 3String without touching it you are playing the NOTE A.
Practice MEMORIZING ALL of these Notes in order for 30 MINUTES NOW. :)

You will use your Left Hand Index Finger to play all the NOTES for now.
YOU WILL ONLY USE THIS FINGER ON YOUR LEFT HAND FOR NOW. :)
.LESSON TWO- More Notes
Congratulations!!! So far you know how to play 12 NOTES! That is very good- thank GOD.
Now I will show you how you can play different notes during a song.
First, look at the HAND below and memorize the Finger Numbers of your Left Hand.
Now, let's pretend you're playing a Song and you see the CHORD NOTE G.
If you see CHORD NOTE G then you know that you will play 4STRING on 3SPACE.
BUT NOW.. you can also play TWO MORE NOTES!
You can also play the notes that are on 3STRING and 2STRING.
Just SKIP ON SPACE and play the notes on 3STRING and 2STRING like in the picture.
Use your 3Finger and 4Finger for these notes.
You can play ANY of these notes as long as the 1Finger is always on the CHORD NOTE.
The CHORD NOTE is the note that is IN THE SONG PAPER above the lyrics.
